Ordered a kit, some issues

I ordered the New Plant Parent Kit, which included a ZZ plant, a terracotta pot, and some potting mix. The ordering process was straightforward on their website, pretty easy to navigate. Delivery took about 6 days to reach me in California, which was a bit longer than I expected but not terrible. The plant itself was healthy, no yellow leaves or anything. However, the terracotta pot had a small chip on the rim, which was a little disappointing. I reached out to customer support and they offered a partial refund or a replacement pot, which was a good response. The potting mix was fine, nothing special. It's a decent option if you're just starting out, but check your items carefully.

Good first month deal

I was looking to get into plants but didn't want to spend a ton. The first month discount on the low-light plant subscription was a good incentive. It made the initial investment feel much more reasonable. The plant arrived in good shape too. Felt like a solid deal for what I got.

Plant arrived well-packaged

So, I decided to finally get a plant for my apartment, you know? Heard about Hey Horti from a friend. I picked out a Pothos, figured it was hard to kill. It came in a box that looked really secure, which was nice. Like, no dirt spilled or anything. It's been sitting on my desk for a week now and seems happy. Pretty chill experience overall.

I'm in Chicago and worried about ordering plants now that it's getting cold. Do they ship in winter, and are the plants gonna freeze?

D Daniel Nguyen 3 days ago
They do ship in winter! I got a plant from them in January and it was super well-packaged, like insulation and everything. Arrived perfectly fine.

Yeah, I think they have some kind of plant insurance too if something goes wrong. Like, if it arrives damaged or frozen, they'll sort it out. I'd still probably pick a warmer week to order if you can, just for peace of mind.

Are Horti plants actually pet-safe? My cat literally eats everything.

J Jacob Parker 2 weeks ago
They have a specific pet-friendly subscription option! I got that one for my cat. All the plants in it are non-toxic, confirmed it on their site.

Yep, you can filter for pet-safe options. I got a spider plant and a prayer plant from them that are totally fine with my dog and cat. They make it pretty clear which ones are safe.

Does Horti do those super rare plant drops or is it mostly common stuff like pothos and snake plants? Trying to decide between them and another service.

D Daniel Perez 1 month ago
They definitely do rare plant drops! I've seen them announce them on their social media sometimes. It's not just the basic stuff, though they have those too.

I got a Pink Princess Philodendron from one of their rare drops a few months ago, so yeah, they do. You just gotta be quick when they announce them.

Hey thinking about trying out Horti. Do they usually have a good first-time discount for new subscriptions or anything?

O Olivia G. 5 days ago
Yeah, I got 15% off my first month of the pet-friendly subscription when I signed up last fall. I think they almost always have something for new people.

R Rachel Moore 3 days ago
They usually do a 10-20% thing, sometimes on kits too, not just subs. Just keep an eye out for a popup or check their main page, it'll probably be there.

Thinking of getting a subscription. How does Horti compare to The Sill? Any big differences or reasons to pick one over the other?

S Sandra E. 3 weeks ago
Horti feels a bit more curated and beginner-friendly, especially with their care cards. The Sill is good too, but sometimes their plants seem a little smaller for the price. Horti's vibe is more urban jungle, I guess.

I've used both. Horti's packaging was top-notch, really protected the plants. The Sill was okay but one plant had a broken leaf once. Horti's also got some cool unique accessories sometimes.
